Session 11

Synthesis! Things are winding down. We worked on a tent name using Publisher. It was good to go in and play around with Publisher again, especially since I am headed there with the kids later this week. I was looking forward to trying the web page practice. I will have to try this one at home. I have been thinking about putting up a web page called "It's not rocket science.com" I keep thinking I would like to share my opinion with the world on different issues. A web page would provide that opinion/essay space. Well lots easier to think about than do, but now I know where to go to start and that probably simpler than I think.
Thanks for all the help, Julie

session 10

Hey guys, thanks for memories. Did either of you see the national news last evening? A gentleman about 77 years old working for Microsoft is working on saving all memories on a computer. He is working for Microsoft to help with the ease of saving stuff. It was a neat little piece.
Thanks for delicious, it was fun to learn about this new place. I really like the idea because I have two lists, one at home and one at work. I will hopefully be combining soon.
Thank you also for time to work on our projects, still bit to do, but more with actual project for the kids, not necessarily for you guys.

Session 7

Hey guys fun day, thank you. Lots of good information. Sitting here thinking what did we do and initail blank, but that is the time of day.
Fun blog examples at the beginning of class, including Jay's wiki site.
Then on to note taking and the class focus of note taking. Learned lots of new interesting stuff about microsoft word. I have never used the highlighting tool or the callout tool, so that was educational. Sorry, bit tired and going to close.

Session 6

Good evening, I am winding down fast. So, tonight was reliablity of web sites. I like the idea of sending kids to designated sites for their initial education. Then once they start surfing on their own they will have some, if not a lot of experience with legitimate sites. It is also important for us to talk up this topic.
Thanks, Julie

Session 5

Okay fun night! Shortest yet, just a bit of sleepiness.
So, lots of interesting stuff, searching and locating information.
I have to mention again how excited I was this weekend using Marvel! and finding information that I was looking for. Discussions about addresses and boolean searches, I learn something new every time. The wiki stuff was great too. We just need to find an application for the planets.
Thank you, see you next week.

Session 4

Today was about the fourth or fifth time I used Marvel and it felt pretty good. I didn't get frustrated. I picked up a lot of new stuff, like clicking on full text, looking for a publication using Academic Search Premier. I also "heard" and took in the bit about lexile that they are only on Middle Search Plus and how useful KIDS and Britannica is for differentiated reading levels.
It was a great class I really enjoyed working with both Minerva and Marvel. I wanted to play more. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Session 3

Today we talked about starting at the end with an evaluation. If you know what you want want for an end product, you should be able to plan your unit, lesson from the end forward. It is common sense or at least I feel it is. With math I always start with the unit test, so I know what I have to make sure I cover with the kids as a minimum.
The table lesson today was useful, but the best part of the day was having you show us some sites for making our own rubrics.
Thanks, Julie
